Things seem to be gathering speed with the inaugural DH1 race series. We first heard about the DH1 race series back in October and we’ve just been informed that the series will visit France twice in July. It is going to be a pretty hectic schedule for any pro rider racing both the UCI Wolrd Cup and the DH1 series. There are back to back races…Mt St Anne, then Windham, then Oz-en-Oisans, then Les 2 Alpes, a one week break and then Val d’Isere.

DH1, UCI et IXS : le calendrier 2012

Thu Nov 03, 2011Source:

Rob Warner will be back covering DH1. How important was he to the equation?

Through his work at Freecaster, Rob has become world-wide "the voice" of mountain bike. Our success is partly due to his signature colourful commentary. He gave the coverage spirit and identity. Rob is also known as the Freecaster voice and I'd like to further keep it that way.

Freecaster’s Ray Dulieu to World: Help us Do This!

Will there be anything but Santa Cruz V-10s competing in the proposed DH1 series—a downhill circuit that would run in addition to the World Cup? Is this an attempted coup by Freecaster, which has broadcast the UCI events? Is racing’s major trade organization, the IMTTO, on board, and will the flash and dazzle of an independent Freecaster series beaming live around the world be enough to lure the big names and teams? We talked to IMTTO president Martin Whiteley, Yeti’s Chris Conroy, and caught up with Freecaster/DH1′s Ray Dulieu for the latest. spawns new international downhill series

Freecaster DH1 Series

Wed Oct 05, 2011Source: Bikemania

2012 Race News: Freecaster Launches New DH Series; UCI Drops 4X, Might Add Enduro

Tue Oct 04, 2011Source: Bicycling - Bike & Gear Reviews

With the 2011 race season in the record books, so starts the off-season of speculation in which pro mountain bike athletes and teams reshuffle for the 2012. But adding to what has become routine rumor and innuendo this fall is another level of drama—this one at the organizational level. The biggest news is that Freecaster has declined to renew its broadcast license with the UCI after the organization tripled its fees to a reported $175,000. Instead, it appears Freecaster is looking to take its announcers, its substantial know-how, and (it hopes) Nissan—the 2011 UCI World Cup title sponsor—and create its own DH series, which would shadow the UCI DH calendar as a parallel series—plus possibly adding an event around Crankworx in Whistler.

Freecaster Plans 2012 Pro DH Series

Mon Oct 03, 2011Source: Pinkbike

At the end of the UCI World Cup series this year we heard rumors that there would be no Freecaster broadcast of the 2012 World Cup DH. The contract between the UCI and Freecaster had run out, and the UCI in negotiations decided to ask for a much larger licensing fee, a fee that is rumored to be more than €130,000. This was a fairly ridiculous amount for Freecaster, so they simply declined. No more Freecaster DH action on Sunday mornings, more than a few people here have expressed their unhappiness over this.
